Noted web3 artist and entrepreneur @gmhunterart has announced that Abstract Pepes, the first pepe-based NFT collection on the Abstract blockchain, will arrive in January 2025.
Inspired by @batzdu‘s Geometric Pepes and @jackbutcher‘s Opepen Edition, the Abstract Pepes NFT collection will – in Hunter’s words – look to “capure [sic] the essence of crypto culture”.
OG holders of Hunter’s existing Primitives NFT collection will get first access to Abstract Pepes, following by a “selected group of @base frens’ collections”, which includes the likes of re:generates, the Museum of Based Art, and Based Nakamigos.

What is Abstract?
Abstract is a new Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, set to launch in January 2025.
Although it is currently pre-launch, Abstract has generated massive attention as the first major new project of Igloo Inc. – the parent company of the Pudgy Penguins NFT collection.
The chain is being built to be open source and consumer-focused from the outset, with CEO Luca Netz stating that Abstract will “change the dynamic of how users interact with blockchain technology and easily merge both the real and digital worlds.”
Social feeds have been awash with content on Abstract in recent weeks, with the team looking to build hype ahead of the January 2025 mainnet launch.

What is Abstract Pepes?
Abstract Pepes is an upcoming NFT collection, set to be released on Abstract in January 2025.
Led by @gmhunterart, the collection takes inspiration from a number of pepe-based NFT collectibles throughout web3 history, with the aim to create a fresh collection with crypto culture at its heart.
Examples of the art have been shared on X, revealing a pixel-art inspired combination of static and lightly-animated avatars. Little is known about the exact details of the collection so far, including the collection size, mint price and more – though this is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
