Web3 strategy roguelite Apeiron has become the latest Ronin-based title to enter a beta playtest, which began on August 22. This beta gives many players their first chance to try out the game, and to enjoy key parts of the core experience, such as its PVE dungeons and PVP battles.
This 1.0 Beta release is now available on the Epic Games Store, with players given a few weeks to get familiar to the game prior to the start of the first competitive leaderboards, opening on September 5.
This marks the latest step on an ambitious roadmap towards the full release of Apeiron, with $APRS staking, a webstore and significant in-game updates to come.
What is Apeiron?
Apeiron is a card-battling roguelite title, powered by Ronin. Taking the role of a Godling, players assemble and command a set of units, mastering the elements, shaping the world around them, and ultimately defeating the Mad God Chaos.
Core gameplay takes the form of high-paced card battles combining elements from Slay the Spire, Teamfight Tactics and MOBA titles such as Dota 2 to create a unique experience, where forward-thinking and tactical nous are keys to success.
The dungeons within Apeiron are procedurally-generated, meaning no two are the same and that players must use their game knowledge to adapt to the situation at hand.
What’s new in the beta playtest?
Dungeons make their return in this beta playtest. Godlings must battle their way through monster-filled dungeons, solve complex puzzles and scour the dark depths to place high on the leaderboards and earn top rewards.
New to this beta playtest is the PVP mode, where players can go head-to-head in both individual battles and tournaments to climb the PVP ladder and improve their rank.
From September 5 to October 17, players will be able to compete on the PVP and PVE leaderboards, rewarding top players with rare in-game items and additional prizes.
Upon the announcement of this beta playterst, Apeiron also unveiled their latest roadmap for updates and improvements, which included plans to open pre-registration for a mobile version of the title, a new liquidity pool for staking $APRS tokens, and a sizeable ‘Chapter 2’ update that will bring significant gameplay and lore updates.
