Popular Ronin-based blockchain game Axie Infinity has announced Atia’s Legacy, a new MMO game set in the Axie’s world of Lunacia that is due to hold its first playtest in summer 2025.
In a blog post announcing Atia’s Legacy, the Axie Infinity team describes the title as one that will “showcase the power and potential of our ecosystem’s player-owned assets”. Players can anticipate the initial playtest to “[set] up core gameplay features,” with “guild wars and social coordination” to be a big part of the end-game content.
Budding players can now pre-register for the first playtest, and can earn $AXS and NFT rewards by referring friends to pre-register, creating content around the game, and more.
What is Atia’s Legacy?
Atia’s Legacy is an upcoming MMO NFT game developed by the Axie Infinity team, to be available on PC and mobile, with its first playtest scheduled to arrive in summer 2025.
In development since May 2024, Atia’s Legacy is set in Lunacia, the universe of the Axie ecosystem. Players can expect to “explore ancient ruins, mystical forests, and the shadowy depths of the dreamworld,” as well as “discover new creatures who guard and protect Lunacia’s secrets.”
In a trailer for Atia’s Legacy posted on X – which was rendered in Unity using the game’s unique art style – we can see a range of combat, exploration, puzzle, social and farming elements of the game on display.
The Atia’s Legacy team have confirmed that existing Axie Infinity Land NFTs, Mystic Axies and other “player-owned assets” and NFT collectibles will play “a big role” in Atia’s Legacy.
Two playtests are set to take place in 2025; the inaugural playtest in summer 2025, and another towards the end of the year.
The game will centre around “squad-based combat”, seeing players chooses and command a squad of “4 Axies and their allies through real-time battles”. These squads will level up, unlocking new abilities and gear whilst exploring the world and completing a variety of missions and side quests – all building up to end-game guild wars.
Players will also be able to “build a home, a town, [and] a community”, with options to build a home on your own land for gathering resources, farming, crafting and more.
In-game towns will also be hubs of real-time player interaction, driving social connections between players.
In building Atia’s Legacy, the Axie Infinity team have stuck to some core ideals. This includes a “cross-platform and mobile” mantra, a “robust economy”, an environment that is “conducive to making new [friends]”, “deep integration with existing Axie NFTs“, and art that is “worthy of the Axie universe”.

Ahead of the game’s first playtests, Atia’s Legacy is holding a pre-registration rewards campaign.
By referring your friends to also pre-register for Atia’s Legacy – and by creating content around the upcoming game – budding players can earn a share of rewards.
25,000 $AXS will be split across the top 200 referrers, with thousands of Axie’s – including a Mystic Axie NFT – up for grabs via a raffle, with tickets secured with each successful referral.
