SEPTEMBER 20, 2021. NEWS. WRITTEN BY HYDRO.
This is the third instalment of the Blockchain Bulletin, a new weekly series from NFT Insider. Every Monday, Hydro will cover the biggest stories from the past week, and take a look at events coming up on the horizon, giving you the details you need and offering up his opinions as well!
We’ll wrap up each of these pieces with our Track of the Week – highlighting a piece of music available on the WAX blockchain.
NFT Pizza’s Peace Auction
In celebration of the International Day of Peace, NFT Pizza is holding a special 1/1 auction on WAX, kicking-off at 19 UTC this Tuesday.
Alongside the animated 1/1 up for auction, each bidder will receive an exclusive animated Peace-za Sticker for every bid they put in.
To join in on the auction hype – and perhaps even put in a bid yourself – head to the NFT Pizza Telegram channel.
Opinion: NFT Pizza is a relative newcomer to both WAX and ETH NFTs, but she’s built a fabulous little community over on Telegram that’s sure to have a blast around this auction. Airdropping NFTs to every bidder is certainly a unique innovation that should widen the appeal – it’ll be interesting to see how this affects the number of bidders that get involved and the final hammer price – and it couldn’t be in aid of a better message.
Immersys’ Open Weekend
Upcoming NFT MMO Immersys is holding its inaugural Open Weekend this week, starting 8 UTC on Saturday, and ending 19 UTC on Sunday.
Having been in closed beta for the past several months, this is the first time that the wider community will be able to experience the hard work thus far of Dan and the team, exploring their virtual world, using their virtual marketplace, visiting creator shops, trying out wearables and more.
Their long-term goal is to develop Immersys into a full-blown MMO experience, with quests, crafting, minigames, monsters and more – all enhanced by NFTs on WAX. Head to their website to discover their roadmap, read their whitepaper, and of course, find out how to take part in the Open Weekend.
Opinion: The Immersys team have toiled away quietly over the past few months, bringing a consistent stream of updates week after week. Development has been at breakneck speed, and what they’ve been able to accomplish in such a short space of time is nothing short of incredible. I’ve been speaking to Dan for several months now and can vouch for his passion and dedication to do things properly – and I’m sure the scores of creators he’s already working with would agree. Personally – and I don’t say this lightly – there are few, if any, projects on WAX that I have more faith in right now than Immersys.
Keep your eyes peeled later this week for a deeper dive into their metaverse…
DYGYCON 5
The 5th instalment of the bi-monthly DYGYCON virtual event takes place this Saturday from 18 UTC to 21 UTC.
Once again, a selection of speakers, influencers, creators and more will descend on The Expo to talk all things NFTs, helping to drive DYGYCON’s goal of facilitating, creating and enhancing connections in the blockchain space.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, DYGYCON is a great way to connect with like-minded individuals in the NFT space the world over, as well as a brilliant opportunity to explore NFT communities across a variety of blockchains.
As always, there’s community booths, swag bags and goodies galore, so head to the DYGYCON website to grab your ticket!
Opinion: If you’re looking to make connections in the NFT space, DYGYCON is a must-attend event. DYGYCON 4 had over 1,000 attendees, and all signs are pointing towards this weekend’s event being even larger. Even if conferences and networking are not your thing, or if you’re just a collector rather than a creator, it’s well-worth hopping in to experience the vibe and the atmosphere of one of the largest virtual events in the blockchain space.
Track of the Week
This week, we’re listening to Do What You Do by Taylor Alexander – one of the tracks featured in YoshiDrops latest show. His hearty voice, coupled with some serious acoustic funk, is the perfect soundtrack for kicking-back, pouring yourself a drink and enjoying the moment.
