Video game publishers Ubisoft have announced that a Closed Beta test for web3 title Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E will debut on August 19, running until September 1.
“If you think you have what it takes to become the new defender of Eden’s freedom, join this deadly reality show hosted by Rayman himself!” the game’s developers announced via X.
To play in the Closed Beta, prospective players must register via the Ubisoft website before this Friday – August 16. Players must have a Ubisoft Account, be 18 or older, and must sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to take part.
Particular players of the Closed Beta will receive Whitelisted status, and will be guaranteed entry into future tests of the upcoming game.

What is Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E?
Built in collaboration with Aribtrum and Sequence, CaptainLaserhawk: The G.A.M.E is a transmedia game based in the same dystopian universe as the Netflix animated series “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix” – itself based on Ubisoft’s 2014 title, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Players will explore the world of Eden, a totalitarian state ruled by despotic overlords. Citizens participate in challenges to increase their citizen score and gain influence, allowing them to shape the world around them.
A governance system, facilitated by the game’s partnership with Arbitrum, means that the game’s players will make choices that inform the game’s narrative. Ubisoft have stated that; “This experience stands out for its unprecedented level of player influence over the game’s development, empowering the community to help craft its evolution.”
It is purported that Captain Laserhawk will feature fan-favourite characters from popular Ubisoft titles, such as like Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, Far Cry and more.

Ubisoft in Web3
Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is not Ubisoft’s first foray into web3.
The video game publisher and development studio infamously integrated so-called ‘Digits NFTs’ into tactical shooter Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2021, powered by Ubisoft Quartz.
Following community backlash and low player interaction with the system, Ubisoft retired NFTs from the title and seemingly stepped back from integrating blockchain technology directly – though they continued to incubate and support a variety of web3 game developers and their titles.
Alongside Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., Ubisoft are also developing and publishing Champions Tactics, a web3 turn-based RPG that is also in its Beta phases.
