Telegram-based web3 game Catizen has partnered with Hong Kong-based digital asset firm HashKey Group to create a joint airdrop for its 26 million players.
This partnership brings fresh anticipation to the Catizen community, who’s cancelled mid-July $CATI airdrop on The Open Network (TON) has yet to be rescheduled.
Catizen’s developers Pluto Studios have not set a date for this new joint airdrop, but have stated that they wish to “achieve the best possible airdrop outcome for the community.”
What is Catizen?
Catizen is a swipe-to-earn game, a variation on the popular tap-to-earn genre, available to play on mobile via Telegram – akin to other popular Telegram titles like Pixeltap and Hamster Kombat.
Rather than earning coins through taps, players are tasked with managing a cat shelter where they can merge cats together to upgrade their levels and earn an increasing amount of coins.
The game has seen over 26 million players to date, with the community eagerly awaiting the forthcoming $CATI token drop – and now this joint airdrop with the participation of the HashKey Group.
Unlike others, Catizen developers Pluto Studios have promised to donate 1% of the game’s revenue to an array of cat charities.
Catizen x HashKey Group
In the immediate term, this partnership aims to remedy the current situation in Catizen, whereby players currently cannot exchange in-game currency for crypto, despite longstanding promises that this would be possible.
The HashKey Group intends to use TON ecosystem to “provide unique web3 gaming experiences for global players and digital asset users,” and to create “gamified experiences in digital finance, a joint HSK airdrop campaign, animal protection, and social responsibility initiatives.”
HashKey are no strangers to the TON ecosystem, having partnered with the TON Foundation in April 2024 to “explore new ways to support early-stage TON ecosystem projects”, which saw them provide on-and-off ramp services to Telegram game players in the Asia-Pacific region.
