Popular Ethereum-based NFT collection Cool Cats has revealed a new partnership with South Korean conglomerate Lotte.
The announcement, made on X on May 23, states that the two will work together to bring the “magic of Sapphire Town” to audiences across Asia, though specific details have yet to be disclosed.
The tweet was accompanied by an image of Blue holding what appears to be a snack box resembling Pepero—a popular chocolate-dipped biscuit stick produced by Lotte—and Chugs holding a cat lollipop and a candy bar.
Whilst the nature of the partnership remains unclear, the image has prompted speculation that it may involve consumer-facing products or brand licensing in the food sector.

What will this partnership bring?
So far, the only confirmed information is the partnership itself and a shared goal of introducing Cool Cats’ fictional setting, Sapphire Town, to wider audiences. The image shared suggests a potential physical product tie-in—possibly candy or snacks—but without an official confirmation, the scope remains speculative.
The reference to Sapphire Town indicates that the collaboration may involve narrative or experiential elements, possibly within Lotte’s digital platforms or physical retail channels.
This move comes just weeks after Lotte worked with Pudgy Penguins to distribute limited-edition collectibles in South Korea.

What’s next for Cool Cats?
Cool Cats has indicated that more information will be shared in the coming weeks. For now, the announcement marks a continued shift toward expanding its brand presence outside of the NFT space and into broader consumer markets.
Since launching in July 2021 with 9,999 cartoon-style NFTs, Cool Cats has become one of the more recognisable early NFT projects. The team behind it has explored licensing, gaming, and world-building elements as part of its growth strategy.
This latest partnership could mark the beginning of further regional activations, particularly in markets where Lotte has strong distribution and brand influence.
