Web3 software developers ethOS have announced the dGEN1, a web3 phone that combines the functions of a hardware wallet with a mobile device.
Developed by Freedom Factory, the dGEN1 will run on the ethOS operating system. This gives users a unique mobile experience tailored to the Ethereum blockchain, whilst allowing users to access the apps and features they already know and love.
This unique device marks a significant step in the proliferation of blockchain-based operating systems, with hopes that the success of the device could lead to wider adoption of ethOS amongst web3 enthusiasts.

What can the dGEN1 do?
The dGEN1 is built to provide users a natively ethOS-powered device as their daily mobile phone.
One of its features is its trustless client, allowing users to validate transactions without relying on third-party services. This adds an extra layer of security and ensures uninterrupted service, even if other external services go offline.
The device also comes with a built-in system wallet that functions across all apps and a browser, allowing for easy access and integration with a variety of popular dApps. It also includes support for Layer-2 scaling solutions, giving users access to faster and cheaper ways to navigate the blockchain ecosystem.
Additionally, ethOS teased the inclusion of a laser feature built into the phone.

How do I buy a dGEN1?
dGEN1 devices are now available to pre-order, priced at 0.2 ETH or 61,296 $DEGEN.
Only 1,000 devices will be made available. Those that pre-order will receive an NFT, which can be freely traded. These NFTs can be redeemed in Spring 2025 – once the device is released – to receive delivery of a dGEN1.
A referral program is in place until December 31, with 0.01 ETH to be awarded for each successful purchase.
Shipping will be available worldwide, pending FCC approval, ensuring that fans across the globe will be able to get their hands on this blockchain-powered device.

Do I receive any perks for owning a dGEN1?
Upon delivery of the dGEN1, each owner will be able to claim an equal share of the device’s exclusive airdrop pool. The value of the pool currently sits at $14,000 USD, meaning each holder is set to receive $14 USD.
Freedom Factory, who now lead the development of both ethOS and the dGEN1 device, will offer continuous support for the device post-delivery, with updates, fixes and improvements to ensure that the device meets the needs of its owners.
The dGEN1 enters a growing blockchain device market, competing with the likes of the Solana Seeker and Up Mobile.
