Another tally on the board for Immutable!
Today, Fenix Games, a web3 games publisher created by both games industry and Wall Street veterans, have announced a partnership with leading gaming blockchain Immutable to identify, support and launch blockchain-powered games for mass market adoption.
Fenix’s desire is to create a portfolio of blockchain-powered games with top-tier developers, drawing on their experience with franchises such as Madden, Need For Speed, The Sims and more to bring both licensed games and original IP into the web3 fold.
This partnership comes off the back of Fenix Games’ $150M raise for their self-described “VC fund” in November 2022, with plans to both invest in the most promising upcoming web3 titles, and acquire existing web2 studios.
Andrew Sorokovsky, VP Global Business Development at Immutable, said:
“As we seek to expand the Immutable offering in service to the best web3 games, we are thrilled to welcome Fenix Games to the Immutable family. Considering the founding team’s experience, both at AAA publishers and in web3 at Mythical Games, we can’t wait to work together to build the future of gaming.”
Rudy Koch, CBO and Co-Founder of Fenix Games, added:
“Immutable has been the benchmark for providing scalable, end-to-end web3 solutions for mass-market games. With our collective efforts, we aim to accelerate growth in the Web3 games sector and provide a clear path for top-tier game developers looking to enter the space.”
Speaking exclusively to NFT Insider, Fenix noted that whilst they’re not quite ready to announce their first games, they’re “really excited about the roster that we’re currently evaluating”, including “existing web2 games and brand-new web3 experiences.”
Discussing the wider industry, the team has a strong belief in its future. “What we haven’t seen is a hit breakout game in web3, and that’s where we are focusing our attention in web3.
“Thanks to the hard work of Immutable and others in the web3 space, there’s a lot of attention on web3. We know lots of top tier web2 game developers who now see web3 as a potential growth opportunity, but need support in entering the market.”
