With their Out of This World pack drop on March 29, we chat to Diege from ZOS about his journey, the WAX community, and what 2023 will bring.

We’re just days away from the first WAX-native project – Zombie Outbreak Survival (ZOS) – holding a drop on the AtomicHub Launchpad!

Launched in late 2021, ZOS has become one of the most remarkably consistant projects on the WAX blockchain. Forming a hardcore, loyal community, the zombie-themed ‘Clicker Plus’ title has grown from humble beginnings to landmark partnerships, first with AlienWorlds, and now with AtomicHub.

15 months after our first interview – and ahead of ZOS’ Out of This World pack drop on March 29th – I sat down with Co-Founder Diege to discuss how the partnership with AtomicHub came to fruition, his thoughts on the WAX community, and how the pack drop on March 29th changes the game for both ZOS veterans and newcomers alike.

John:?GM Diege! We first interviewed you back in January 2022, just before your Survivor pre-sale – and since then, you?ve grown into one of the leading games on the WAX blockchain. What has the journey been like since then?

Diege:?Hey Hydro, great to be back being interviewed by you, it only feels like yesterday since we sat down for the first one!

We have a saying we use in the team; “it’s been a long road to get to where we are, but we’re still only a few steps along our journey” – ultimately, we’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done to get us to today, but we’re still only scratching the surface of our ultimate goal: to compete with the big brands in web3, and take on the web2 titles as they transition across!

As with any good journey, we have had our ups and downs and we’re still always learning, but we aim to become better every day and we’re really proud of where we are!

Zombie Outbreak Survival (ZOS) is a strategic resource management game on WAX.

There?s a wide array of games on WAX – many are clickers, but more gameplay-focused projects are on the rise. What is ZOS?s approach to the player experience?

When we speak to the WAX community, we label ourselves a ‘Clicker Plus’ or a ‘Strategic Clicker’. When we talk to outsiders, we call ourselves a ‘Strategic MMORPG’.

We understand our strengths and weaknesses, and we know we’d get eaten alive if we tried to compete with games such as The Forge Arena or Illuvium.

We’re focused more around the metagame – where players must talk, team up and build relationships through Discord communities to succeed. We believe this community-centric approach is inherently ‘web3’, and we’re building on that with our ‘Seek Refuge’ system coming later this year.

ZOS have partnered with AtomicHub to hold a drop on March 29 at 18:00 UTC.

You?ve partnered with AtomicHub for a drop on March 29, becoming the first WAX-native project to feature on their Launchpad. How did this partnership come about, and what is it like to be partnering with AtomicHub in this way?

First of all, it’s absolutely awesome to be the first WAX-native brand to be partnering with AtomicHub in this way.

Here at ZOS, we’re driven by pushing the envolope, and becoming the pioneers for new utility avenues, products, experiences and partnerships is something that motivates us every day!

The partnership kicked-off at the AtomicHub booth at NFT London. Speaking to Jona (co-founder), Fabian (co-founder) & Jeffery (CRO), they saw something in ZOS and our vision that they wanted to work with, and after learning about the upcoming Launchpad, it made sense to take the opportunity to work together!

2,000 Out of This World packs – containing 30 NFTs each – will be available.

The drop sees 2,000 ?Out of This World? packs hit the blockchain. What do the packs contain? Are they suitable for new players?

Absolutely! We’re nicknaming these packs ‘Starter Packs on Steroids’, as they contain everything a new player needs to begin their ZOS journey, and then some!

Each Out of This World pack contains:

• 1x Jasmin Survivor: Survivors are the main characters of ZOS; required for every game mode!
• 2x Era 3 weapons (5% chance of Mythic!): Weapons do damage to Zombies! Damage = Loot!
• 2x Era 3 Shields (5% chance of Mythic!): Shields protect Survivors from Zombie attacks!
• 10x Food – Food heals Survivors after they’ve taken damage!
• 5x Assault ASC, Tier 1 to Tier 3: Attack Style Cards are required for Boss Battles – these are HARD to get!
• 5x Assassin ASC Tier 1 to Tier 3
• 5x Overwatch ASC Tier 1 to Tier 3

Each pack contains everything a veteran or newcomer needs to get ahead.

This drop also sees the return of your ?Double My Order? event. Could you explain what this is?

‘Double my Order’ has become a staple part of the ZOS experience for our community – in short, players who purchase items within a fixed time frame have the chance of having their order doubled!

We’re bringing this brilliant event to the Out of This World Pack drop on March 29, and it will run for the first 3 days of the drop. Every purchase made during these first three days will have the opportunity to be doubled afterwards, until we’ve given away an additional 700 packs!

If a player makes 1 purchase for 50 packs and is selected to be doubled, they’ll receive an extra 50 packs! If a player makes 50 transactions for 1 pack, they’ll have 50 chances to double 1 pack! This is a huge promotional offer that we’re extremely proud of, and it brings an element of strategy even to the buying of packs!

Each purchase has the chance of being doubled for free.

The WAX community has been your home since ZOS? inception. What has it been like to build within the community, and are there any particular people or projects you admire?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the WAX community is by far the best community in web3.

The support we receive from players, projects and block producers is simply immense, and we love interacting with everyone in the WAX space!

One project we’re extremely admirable of is the team behind Wombat. What those guys are doing is incredible, and I was lucky enough to share a lovely dinner with Adrian (@AdrianKrion) from their team last year. Those guys are going to be a top-tier web3 development team with the moves they’re making.

What can we expect from ZOS across the rest of 2023, and beyond?

2023 and 2024 are set to be huge years for ZOS!

Our building management system, ‘Seek Refuge, is coming later this year, which will open-up an entirely new experience to ZOS players with an interactive map system boosting immersion into our game world.

This year will also see our team PvP game mode, ‘Siege’, be released – and our partnership with AlienWorlds will grow with the release of the ‘Galactic Standoff’ game mode: a DAO-powered PvP mode that pits some of the biggest punchers in AlienWorlds against each other for huge loot & bragging rights!

As we look towards Q4 2023/Q1 2024, we’re extremely excited to be building a strategic battle royale game mode, ‘RAID’, that offers huge rewards in the form of ZOS Land for the biggest victors – but will offer punishing death mechanics to the biggest losers. For the first time ever, Survivor NFTs will be at-risk of being burned!

ZOS sees players gather resources, craft items, and take on the zombie hordes.
