FrankDeGods, the co-founder of the DeGods NFT collection, is at the centre of controversy over his response to allegations of mismanagement of the DeGods and y00ts collections.
On January 3, @frankdegods shared a screenshot of a tweet from @MisakaTrades. The tweet stated “frank degods nonchalantly trading memecoins as if he didnt basically abandon 3 projects[,] truly amazing”, which Frank added to with “they only say this about people that stick around”.
When asked to clarify, Frank gave a lengthy response which was met with confusion around the purpose, direction and future of DeGods – as well as heavy criticism on his seemingly unserious nature towards the brand.

What did FrankDeGods say?
In his lengthy response, Frank gave an abridged history of DeGods to the present day, from his perspective.
This included stating that DeGods was “up only almost 2 years through a bear market but things crashed after a disappointing release”, and added that “managing 3 projects was too difficult for me, so we’ve rolled everything fairly into 1 asset, $degod”
He also stated that “our gated telegram cooks, i don’t think any other nft project is even close to be honest”, and that he’s brainstorming what to do next, “maybe something with ai but i dont know yet”.
Amid a storm of comments that were met with no reply, @wabdoteth expressed a desire to see the original vision for DeGods built out. Frank replied with “i’m a bad delegator & struggle to clarify my visio”, and that “i’m trusting the others on the team to lead the charge”.

What was the community response?
One of the most notable responses came from @Gee__Gazza, who express that Frank is “not a serious person”.
GeeGazza would go on to be openly critical of Frank’s statement, noting that he had “raised 176 BTC on BTC degods, ran out of blockchains to migrate to, screamed degods to zero for months, deleted rarities on a whim”.
He was especially critical of the end of Frank’s statement, paraphrasing his meaning into “idk maybe we do something with ai next. no rush. we have a telegram. oh btw what can I do for myself for 100k?”
The number of likes on the tweet – moreso than Frank’s original tweet and over double that of his explanation – seem to indicate that community sentiment sides more with the criticism of Frank, rather than his explanation and the current state of DeGods.
DeGods often make headlines – with the launch of $DEGOD being the most recent – but the current community sentiment around DeGods and its management leaves the brand in a tricky position.
