Telegram-based web3 shooter Golden Guardians: Survivor will officially shut down on June 27.
The announcement was made by developer OVERTAKE via Discord, confirming that the game will no longer be accessible after that date. All in-game data will be removed, and gameplay access will cease entirely.
The game launched in late 2024 as part of OVERTAKE’s GameFest campaign, which included token-based reward systems across several titles. Players could earn in-game rewards that tied into OVERTAKE’s token ecosystem, including the $TAKE token, which replaced the platform’s original $OVT token in early 2025.

What is Golden Guardians: Survivor?
Golden Guardians: Survivor is a survival shooter built on Telegram’s mini-app system where players take control of characters in a top-down arena setting and fight off waves of enemies. Each session required energy, which replenished over time.
Six characters were available in total, with one offered for free and others unlocked using either Telegram Stars or cryptocurrency. The game featured a levelling system similar to that of Vampire Survivors, with players earning experience and unlocking skills during each round.
Progress through the game allowed players to earn $GG. This currency could be converted into gAP (Achievement Points), which contributed to global leaderboard rankings and qualified players for token rewards in $TAKE—the platform’s rebranded native token.

Why is the game shutting down?
OVERTAKE did not give a detailed reason for the shutdown but confirmed the closure via Discord. The announcement included a message of appreciation to players and confirmed that all $TAKE token allocations earned from the game had been preserved.
No mention was made of low player numbers or financial issues, though the shutdown comes during a broader trend of service terminations across web3 games.
Several titles—including Ember Sword, Nyan Heroes, and Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates—also ended development or closed services in May and June, citing challenges such as lack of funding, unsustainable development timelines, and market volatility.

What happens to player rewards?
Although the game is closing, OVERTAKE has stated that any unclaimed $TAKE rewards linked to Golden Guardians: Survivor are secure and remain claimable through the company’s Launchpool system.
Players are encouraged to use the remaining days before June 27 to access the game, after which all content will be permanently removed.
The studio has not announced any plans to continue the Golden Guardians project in another form.
