Tokens such as GTA 6 Coin and GTA Guy have emerged, reaching impressive market caps within a short period, though their values have fluctuated significantly.
This increase in meme coin activity comes amidst growing speculation that Grand Theft Auto 6 may incorporate cryptocurrency in some form, though these rumors remain unconfirmed.

Emergence of GTA-Inspired Meme Coins
In recent weeks, a significant number of meme coins inspired by Grand Theft Auto have appeared on Solana. Among the most notable are GTA 6 Coin and GTA Guy, which quickly saw market caps rise over $1 million, drawing attention from the cryptocurrency community. However, these coins have also experienced steep declines, with both tokens falling over 90% from their peak values.
The growth of these meme coins goes beyond Solana as data from aggregators indicate a rising number of GTA-themed coins on multiple blockchains, including Ethereum and Arbitrum.
Many of these tokens have been in existence for several months but have gained renewed interest due to the hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6.

What prompted these speculations?
The influx of GTA memecoins has coincided with rumors that Grand Theft Auto 6 may feature cryptocurrency in some capacity.
Since 2021, there have been persistent speculations about in-game rewards tied to digital currencies, with Bitcoin and Ethereum often mentioned as potential candidates. However, these rumors remain unconfirmed, as Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have yet to confirm any such plans for the game.
This uncertainty however has not stopped the community from capitalizing on the potential link to the game whilst critics caution against the speculative nature of these coins.
