Popular tap-to-earn game Hamster Kombat have announced the development of a layer-2 network on The Open Network (TON) and the launch of the HamsterVerse closed beta.
The decision to build on TON followed a DAO vote, where over 1.1 billion HMSTR tokens supported the move. However, concerns have been raised about governance centralization, as two token holders controlled over 88% of the voting power.
Simultaneously, the closed beta for the HamsterVerse—a new expansion featuring three interconnected games—has begun, involving 30,000 community members.

What is HamsterVerse?
The HamsterVerse is an expansion of Hamster Kombat into a multi-game ecosystem. It will consist of three interconnected games, each providing opportunities for players to use $HMSTR tokens for in-game activities, events, and rewards.
The new layer-2 network on TON is intended to support this expansion, enabling more efficient transactions and scalability.
By integrating blockchain technology, the HamsterVerse aims to allow seamless gameplay across its titles whilst enhancing token utility for players.

What to expect from the closed beta?
The closed beta phase for the HamsterVerse is currently underway, with 30,000 community members selected to participate. Invitations were sent via the Hamster Kombat bot on Telegram with additional testers to be included in later phases.
During the closed beta, players will explore new features, including tournaments, battles, leaderboards, and rewards. The $HMSTR tokens will play a central role across all three games in the HamsterVerse. Players who have retained their tokens within the Hamster Kombat ecosystem will be able to use them in the new games.
Whilst no official release date has been provided for the public version of the HamsterVerse, the beta phase is expected to help refine gameplay and infrastructure ahead of a wider launch.
