Cryptocurrency payments company Helio has announced a major update to their Solana Pay plugin for Shopify, bringing a full suite of crypto payment options to Shopify merchants around the world.
The update includes support for a range of tokens, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, and more, the ability to create a blockchain-based loyalty program, and sub-second transaction speeds.
On top of this, the Solana Pay plugin now allows merchants to airdrop NFTs to customers, plus allow holders of particular NFTs to obtain discounts on their orders.
What are the advantages of Solana Pay for merchants?
This latest update for Helio’s Solana Pay plugin makes it easier than ever for online businesses to accept cryptocurrency payments – even those who don’t offer web3 products.
Through the use of Solana-based decentralized exchange Jupiter, merchants can automatically convert the cryptocurrencies they receive into stablecoins, which are easier to transfer into fiat currency.
The Helio Solana Pay plugin now charges a reduced transaction fee of 0.75%, below that of many typical credit card providers.
“Enabling the largest e-commerce platform to accept faster-than-card crypto payments is a significant step towards the mass adoption of crypto payments,” said Stijn Paumen, CEO and Co-founder at Helio. “Crypto holders represent a rapidly growing global consumer segment, with over 100M active wallets.”
Steven Laver, Mobile Engineering Lead at Solana Labs, added that; “With Helio’s Solana Pay plugin for Shopify, we’re taking product preorders denominated in USDC and have saved more than $1 million in card processing fees so far,”
“It makes perfect sense to allow users to pay for a blockchain product on-chain.”
