Iconic Woodstock Festival to Launch Woodstock World Metaverse in 2023
Since 1969, Woodstock has spread peace, love & music across the world. In 2023, the king of festivals is set to enter the metaverse!
Counterculture is headed to the metaverse!
Woodstock World, a 3D metaverse created by Sequin AR with official support from Woodstock Ventures, is set to bring the atmosphere of the iconic 1969 festival to a whole new generation later this year.
Known for creating immersive musical experiences featuring the likes of Madonna, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande, Sequin AR will be creating a platform to host exclusive behind-the-scenes Woodstock content, interactive archives, and the chance to revisit legendary performances.
Robert DeFranco, CEO of Sequin AR, said:
“Woodstock was and still is all about people, from all aspects of life, coming together for an experience that makes them one.”
Woodstock World isn’t just about reliving the past. Using Unreal Engine 5 and Sequin AR’s metaverse platform, Woodstock World will integrate avatars, blockchain technology and video streaming to deliver an immersive digital experience.
Through the use of archival footage and motion capture recreation, fans will be able to interact with their favourite performers, discover new sounds from breakthrough artists, and relive classic moments from the original 1969 festival.
Joel Rosenman, co-producer of the original Woodstock, noted:
“In 1969, Woodstock changed music history and defined a generation, combining the power of shared experience with culture’s greatest musical talent. Woodstock World allows everyone everywhere to have an even more magical experience liberated from the boundaries of time and space.”
Plans for the launch are being finalised, with Woodstock World set to launch on PC in 2023, and on VR at a later date.
