Illuvium Overworld, the core experience of the Illuvium ecosystem, is set to undergo a major transformation in Q2 2025, significantly improving the Web3 gaming experience.
These upgrades will see the introduction of proper multiplayer, Leviathan bosses, raids and more, with hopes to give players a more well-rounded an engaging title, shifting Overworld from an open-world experience into a true MMO.
The focus of these updates is to build more compelling core gameplay loops, progression systems, and a well-designed game world – the solid foundations that are necessary to add further complexity and detail in future.
What is Illuvium Overworld?
Illuvium Overworld is an open-world auto-battler title, built on Immutable.
Developed by the eponymous Illuvium studio, the game is the centrepoint of the Illuvium ecosystem. Players explore a vast fantasy world, encountering, capturing and training creatures known as Illuvials to take part in intense auto-battler contests.
The game is known as one of the most demanding and visually-attractive titles in Web3 gaming, with stunning 3D environments rendered in Unreal Engine 5. The hope is that the game will attract both traditional PC gamers, and Web3 fans, with blockchain-based assets that are smooth to interact with and beneficial for all players.
What changes will come in Q2 2025?
Q2 2025 is set to bring major updates to the Illuvium Overworld experience. These are scheduled to go live after similarly big updates that are due to arrive for Illuvium Arena early in 2025.
These changes include overhauls of the core gameplay loops, progression systems, enemies and in-game regions. Significant improvements are also expected to be made to Leviathan bosses, melee combat, and the multiplayer experience – with raids expected to arrive in future as well.
Kieran Warwick, CEO and co-founder of Illuvium, stated in a recent blog post regarding the Illuvium Overworld overhaul that; “Before long, you’ll see one of our signature cinematics, giving you a first look at an immersive world where you team up with friends to take down colossal leviathans and claim rare loot.”
