Improving Our Transparency
To be an open, honest and trusted media source, we must first be transparent. We’re going a step further than our contemporaries.
AUGUST 3, 2022. UPDATES. WRITTEN BY JOHN NICHOLS.
At NFT Insider, our number 1 goal is to be a news source you can trust.
Impartial, researched and balanced – our aim is to cut through the hype to bring you the information you need to know.
As part of this, we must be fully transparent about the NFTs that we hold. This allows you as the reader to judge if there are any conflicts of interest between the article that you’re reading, and the writer who wrote it.
Some outlets give only vague details of relevant holdings. We’re going a step further.
From today, all of our full-time writers will be openly disclosing all of their wallets and holdings – in both crypto and NFTs. In real terms, this means the following:
- Each full-time writer will list all of their wallet addresses on their profile page, making a special note of any collections of which they hold more than $1,000 USD in NFTs, or any cryptocurrencies of which they hold more than $1,000.
- When writing a piece where an NFT collection or cryptocurrency is discussed, the writer will disclose the exact USD value of their holdings at the time of writing at the start of the article.
- If NFTs were loaned to a writer for the sake of review (e.g. access NFTs for a blockchain game), this will be disclosed, and the NFTs returned prior to publication.
I’ll also take this opportunity to restate an important point: pink.gg in no way has any control over the content, opinions or topics discussed on NFT Insider. All content published under the NFT Insider name is ran by myself, in my role as Editor-in-Chief.
As I’ve discussed on the podcast in the past, journalistic integrity in Web3 means holding ourselves to higher standards than in Web2.
We hope that this update to how we work allows us to become a more open, transparent and trusted media source, and that you as the reader can feel that the information you receive comes from a place of honesty, integrity and good moral standing.
