Minted Loot Studios, the developer of the blockchain-based action RPG ChronoForge, has been granted approval as an official Nintendo Switch publisher allowing the studio to bring its game to one of the best-selling gaming consoles, potentially reaching a wider audience.
Whilst the approval does not confirm whether ChronoForge’s blockchain mechanics will be included on the Switch nor there is a confirmed release date for ChronoForge on the platform, this approval marks a step toward expanding web3 game accessibility on traditional gaming systems.
For now, ChronoForge is expected to launch on Windows PCs in March 2025.

What is ChronoForge?
ChronoForge is a multiplayer hack-and-slash roguelite RPG with procedurally generated dungeons and a player-driven governance system. The game features:
- Twelve combat classes, each with different abilities
- Dungeon exploration and resource gathering for crafting and upgrades
- Player-governed airships known as trading companies, which function as hubs for crafting and progression
- Weekly voting systems that allow players to influence in-game events
A key gameplay feature is the ability for players to vote on major decisions, which can affect the game world.
The game is set to be free-to-play, but access to certain blockchain-related rewards will require an optional battle pass.

Will ChronoForge Feature NFTs on Nintendo Switch?
Minted Loot Studios has not confirmed whether the Nintendo Switch version of ChronoForge will retain its NFTs, blockchain-based rewards, or other web3 elements. Nintendo has not publicly stated its policy on blockchain gaming, leaving uncertainty about how ChronoForge will be presented on the Switch.
Some blockchain games allow players to interact with web3 features externally, keeping the core gameplay separate from blockchain elements. If ChronoForge follows this approach, it could offer traditional gameplay on the Switch whilst allowing blockchain interactions outside the console ecosystem.
For now, ChronoForge is expected to launch on Windows PCs in March 2025. The studio recently migrated the game to Abstract Chain and introduced the $CHRONO token, reinforcing its blockchain-based infrastructure and whether these elements will be integrated into the Switch version remains to be seen.
