Web3 farming RPG Moonfrost is set to debut Alpha Release 5 on the Epic Games Store later this month, with 50,000 codes distributed to players.
This latest release is expected to see the debut of House Hunters, a new event which sees players use Blueprints to craft and decorate structures on a brand-new map, with prizes set to include SHARDs, unique Blueprints, and rare items.
An exact date for Alpha Release 5 has yet to be revealed, though as of writing, the Moonfrost team have distributed 50,000 access codes to a combination of existing and new players in order to take part.
What is Moonfrost?
Moonfrost is a casual farming RPG that combines the nostalgic charm of titles such as Stardew Valley and the Harvest Moon series with blockchain-powered items, tokens and features.
Developed by Oxalis Games, the game sees players build and customize farms, build relationships with various characters, and uncover the secrets of the world around them. Through harvesting crops, gathering resources, crafting items, and decorating their homes, players will attract NPCs to their plots and expand their gameplay.
Through the various alpha releases to date, players have gathered SHARDs – an in-game currency that has been carried over between each test. This is rumoured to play a role in determining the allocation of $FROST, an ecosystem token for Moonfrost which is yet to release.
What is new in Moonfrost Alpha Release 5?
Alongside the new House Hunters event, Alpha Release 5 of Moonfrost is set to introduce a number of other changes.
This release marks the first time that the Moonfrost team has committed to the Epic Games Store fully, moving away from their own in-house launcher. This has been done to prepare for a major new gameplay feature, scheduled to arrive with Alpha Release 6, coming in 2025.
The game also has an XP system for the first time, allowing players to level-up by completing tasks and crafting blueprints. Higher levels will unlock new achievements, as well as higher leaderboard rankings. Tasks have also been overhauled to be “more dynamic, impactful, and fun”, with new rewards and story progression to boot.
Alpha Release 5 will also see an array of quality of life changes, including an updated Build Mode,alongside bug fixes and general improvements.
