MMA fans, this one’s for you!
MetaFight, a digital trading card game where players collect real-world MMA fighters, has welcomed former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion, Ciryl Gane, to its board.
The appointment saw exclusive Ciryl Gane NFTs auctioned on the platform in early March, giving fans and collectors the chance to win Gane’s fight kit from his UFC 285 bout with Jon Jones.
What is MetaFight?
MetaFight sees players build rosters of real-world MMA fighter NFTs to pit against their fellow players in card-based PVP combat. In their recent alpha launch, the game saw over 35,000 matches played in the first two hours alone.
Julia Mahé-Emsallem, CEO of MetaFight, said:
“MetaFight’s goal is to support the growth of MMA worldwide by helping fighters and industry professionals alike. With the Alpha Launch, we’re taking a step further towards that goal. [Ciryl’s] presence on our board will allow us to understand the challenges of great champions, and will help us make the game as true to life as possible.”
MMA fighters that partner with MetaFight receive a share of the proceeds from the sale of collectible cards in their likeness – and with their relationship with France’s leading MMA Factory (where Ciryl Gane and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou train), there’s set to be many familiar names for fight fans joining the platform.
Ciryl Gane, former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion, said:
“I’ve always closely followed new technologies related to sports, and the MetaFight model particularly caught my attention when I understood that their remuneration model could help young athletes go further in their passion for sports. I’m thrilled to join the MetaFight board and be a part of its growth.”
