Ethereum-based metaverse gaming platform Nifty Island has confirmed December 17, 2024, as the official launch date for its $ISLAND token.
The announcement follows the successful conclusion of a nine-month play-to-airdrop campaign, which engaged tens of thousands of participants through in-platform activities.
The token launch comes at a time of increased interest in blockchain-based gaming projects, coinciding with notable market gains in metaverse-related tokens.
What do we know about the $ISLAND token launch?
The $ISLAND token will debut on December 17.
Participants in the recently concluded play-to-airdrop campaign will receive 12.5% of the token’s total supply, reflecting a 25% increase from earlier distribution plans. An additional one million tokens will also be available to select web3 community members who did not take part in the airdrop.
The play-to-airdrop program, which ran for nine months and ended on November 1, allowed users to earn tokens by engaging with the platform. The initiative recorded over 140,000 active wallets, and users collectively created approximately 70,000 unique islands within the metaverse.
What’s next to Nifty Island?
According to Co-founder Charles Smith, Nifty Island is preparing for significant updates aimed at expanding its capabilities.
Plans include making the platform available on mobile devices and enhancing content creation tools for users.
These updates are part of the project’s long-term development roadmap.
