The team behind Telegram-based tap-to-earn game Notcoin has collaborated with The Open Network‘s Lost Dogs NFT collection to launch a new story-driven title called ‘Lost Dogs: The Way’ – alongside a brand token, $WOOF.
This comes a month after Notcoin teased a fresh start of sorts, indicating their next fresh direction after kicking-off the tap-to-earn trend with their original title earlier this year.
Lost Dogs: The Way picking up a whopping 2.5 million players on within the first 24 hours, and gave out 100,000 $NOT to top players on that first day.
How does Lost Dogs: The Way work?
Lost Dogs: The Way is a story-driven social game. Expected to last six weeks, players select one of three options each day – decisions that will help shape the game’s narrative.
As the game progresses, the characters – based on the Lost Dogs NFT collection – will gain special abilities, with players incentivised to convince one other to vote in particular ways. By casting your votes, inviting friends and joining squads, players will earn both $WOOF and $NOT tokens.
“Lost Dogs is not an ordinary game, better to call it a gamified experience,” said Sasha Plotvinov, Founder of Notcoin. “Every day, you will be asked to make a decision that will shape the story that is happening in this magical dogs’ world. The more good decisions you make, the better for your pack (and your drop).”
What does this mean for the future of Notcoin?
This marks Notcoin’s diversification from the tap-to-earn genre – a trend they began, which has helped Telegram grow to almost 1 billion users. Titles like Hamster Kombat, Musk Empire and Tapmonsters are just a few of the popular tap-to earn titles to follow Notcoin’s example.
“Our goal is to demonstrate how NFTs can build and communicate narratives, driving mass adoption through innovative storytelling and gameplay,” said Vanya, founder of Getgems – the platform which Lost Dogs was launched on. “This is the first of many games to be promoted by Notcoin, setting the stage for a new era of interactive blockchain experiences.”
Following Notcoin’s pivot away from the tap-to-earn model, Plotvinov declared that he wants Notcoin to “become the Netflix of social, viral games.”
