What is Off The Grid?

Off The Grid is a Web3-powered battle royale game, built on Avalanche, and available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Developed by Gunzilla Games, players drop into the ruins of a futuristic city either alone or grouped with other players. Gather gear, weapons and an array of utility – including unique character enhancements called cyberlimbs – before facing off against others players until only one remains.

The game has undoubtedly been one of the biggest Web3 games of the past year, with many of the biggest content creators – such as xQc, Ninja, and shroud – streaming the title to their legions of fans around the world, helping the game grow to a playerbase of over 15 million registered users.

At the heart of Off The Grid is a blockchain-based economy built on GUNZ – a custom subnet of the Avalanche blockchain. Players can buy, sell and trade in-game skins using the game’s native token $GUN – which, as of writing, is priced at $0.041 USD, with a market cap of over $35 million USD.

What other updates and changes have been made?

Alongside the introduction of the Red Ant Battle Pass, numerous tweaks, updates and additions have been made to Off The Grid.

This update also sees the introduction of the Cyberlancer cyberlimb. This cyberlimb – found as ground loot and within HEX drops as with other cyberlimbs – combines mobility benefits with a knee-mounted blade, helping players to close the gap to their opponents and surprise them with a quick melee strike.

In terms of tweaks, the Jetpack and the Slugger limb has been buffed, whilst assault rifles see better recoil but reduced bullet velocity. HEX Extraction Terminals now have a faster interaction time, alongside a revised hacking interface, and Heatsinks have been given a revised audio cue.

The most notable changes for players will be overall improvements to game performance, as well as the introduction of a post-game victory screen, showcasing the winning player or squad to the entire lobby.
