Web3 battle royale title Off The Grid has launched an exclusive playtest on the Xbox Series X, available to play right now.
Developed by Gunzilla Games, Off The Grid becomes the first major blockchain game to hold playtests on both of the leading current-gen consoles, after a successful PS5 playtest held in August 2024.
The playtest is available to all Xbox Insider Program members, running every day from 16:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC.
What can I expect from Off The Grid on Xbox?
Off The Grid is an upcoming free-to-play cyberpunk third-person shooter, built on Avalanche, and available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Developed by Gunzilla Games, the game features two main modes; a 150-player battle royale PvP mode, and a narrative-driven story mode, which lasts a reported 60 hours. The economy is powered by the $GUN token, used to acquire a variety of in-game upgrades, on-chain items and more.
The game is especially noted for its high-fidelity graphics, large community, and appeal to traditional gaming audiences, becoming arguably the most anticipated blockchain game release to date.
Currently, Off The Grid is still in a pre-release phase. The game is expected to hold its full release by the end of the year, with Piers Kicks, Founding Partner at major backer Delphi Ventures, noting on September 25 that the title would release “within 30 days”.
How can I access Off The Grid’s Xbox Series X playtest?
To participate in the Xbox Series X playtest, players will need to download the Xbox Insider Hub from the Xbox Store, and register for the Xbox Insider Program.
Once complete, players can select “Off The Grid” under the Previews Xbox tab.
This playest runs daily from 16:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC, allowing players to explore Teardrop Island for the first time. Though players will be able to experience the battle royale gameplay, there’s no guarantee of acquiring any blockchain-based rewards for taking part in this test.
