Upcoming idle RPG Onchain Heroes have held the mint for their 10,000-piece Genesis Heroes NFT collection – the second NFT collection for the game so far.
Taking place across four phases that began on February 19 at 15 UTC, and opened to the public on February 20 at 18 UTC, these Genesis Heroes will be the “main characters” of the Onchain Heroes game, and are minted on Abstract. Though these NFTs are now in the hands of holders, they will not be revealed until the holder takes part in 1 battle in the Onchain Heroes game – which is set to debut before the end of February 2025.
Alongside this Genesis Heroes NFT collectibles mint, Onchain Heroes have also released information on their planned ecosystem token $HERO, an ERC-20 token on Abstract that is rumoured to launch soon after the game is live.
What is Onchain Heroes?
Onchain Heroes is an upcoming idle RPG, built on Ethereum Layer-2 Abstract, and set to launch in February 2025.
Players will send their Heroes into battle, strengthen their characters, and earn rewards. This will level-up your Heroes in preparation for end-game content, where players will be able to stake their Heroes and pay a $HERO entry fee to earn exclusive NFT rewards.
The game will be fully on-chain, and is “designed for the busy degen”, only requiring “5-10 mins of daily engagement” for optimal play. As a game that is built on Abstract, players that utilise the Abstract Global Wallet will also earn Abstract XP – a points system that earns holders an allocation of the upcoming Abstract token.
What assets are in the Onchain Heroes ecosystem?
Onchain Heroes has revealed four different types of on-chain assets so far.
Released in December 2024, Genesis Rings were the first NFT collection of the Onchain Heroes ecosystem. This collection of 1,000 ERC-721 assets on Ethereum are the OG asset of the game, with holders set to receive 6.9% of the total $HERO token supply, as well as priority for future airdrops and allocations.
Released in February 2025, Genesis Heroes are the second NFT collection for Onchain Heroes. This collection of 10,000 NFT avatars on Abstract represent the main characters of the game, and are requirement to play Onchain Heroes.
A third NFT collection, only known as [REDACTED] NFT so far, is set to be an ERC-1155 NFT that is distributed as a reward for completing end-game content in Onchain Heroes.
This ecosystem will be united by the $HERO token. Set to debut around the launch of Onchain Heroes, this token will allow players to send their Heroes into battle, level them up, and take part in end-game content. Players will also earn $HERO rewards by engaging with Onchain Heroes at all levels, or for holding particular Onchain Heroes NFTs.
