A celebration of all things Web3 is taking place right now!
From November 14-18, the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Philippines, will play home to the country’s largest in-person crypto gathering, the Philippine Web3 Festival.
This week-long event, arranged by play-to-earn organisation Yield Guild Games and infrastructure provider BlockchainSpace, intends to bring together founders, developers, gamers, venture capitalists and industry leaders alike to network, collaborate and design the future of Web3.
Peter Ing, Founder of BlockchainSpace, shared his excitement:
“The Philippines has one of the most vibrant GameFi and Web3 communities in the world. In an effort to maximize opportunities stemming from the country’s position in the space, it’s important to help pave the way for Web3 innovation here by boosting the strengths of the local crypto scene.”
Gabby Dizon, Co-Founder of Yield Guild Games, added:
“The Philippine Web3 Festival is the first truly international showcase of Filipino talent, and we are bringing the world’s best in Web3 to the Philippines to see it for themselves.”
Confirmed speakers at the event include; Jeffrey “Jiho” Zirlin, Co-Founder of Axie Infinity; Yat Siu, Chairman and Co-Founder of Animoca Brands; and Sebastian Borget, Co-Founder of The Sandbox.
Companies in attendance include Polygon, Solana, Chainalysis, Houbi, Binance, Crypto.com, GAMEE, Mirai Labs, Playdex and many more.
Kenneth Stern, General Manager at Binance Philippines, stressed the significance of the country in paving the way for Web3 innovation:Â
“Since the Philippines has potential as one of the big players in the Web3 space, we believe it’s important to support the initiatives and movements to develop the industry further.”
In addition to the scheduled conference, numerous side events will also take place; from NFT art exhibitions, networking mixers and an Axie Infinity tournament with a $120,000 prize pool, provided by Sky Mavis.
If you’re in the area, it’s not too late to grab your ticket to enjoy the remainder of the festival. Head to the festival website to purchase your tickets via credit card, e-wallet or crypto.
Opinion
There’s no denying that the advent of play-to-earn is a massive factor in the Philippines’ exposure to Web3, particularly because of the initial (and continued) popularity of Axie Infinity.
Having such an event organised by local industry veterans is both inspiring and rewarding, not just for the local community but also for anyone engrossed in the play-to-earn atmosphere.
I’m on the ground, live at the event, and I’ll be bringing you all the highlights across the next week!
