Ronin-based titles Realms of Alurya and Wonder Wars have announced they are ceasing operations, citing funding challenges and changing priorities from their publishers.
Both games said they were unable to secure the resources needed to continue development. In both cases, previously planned funding arrangements were either not realised or withdrawn.
Whilst each project faced distinct circumstances, both pointed to the same underlying issue: long-term sustainability in a volatile funding environment.

Why are these games shutting down?
Hello Monster, the studio behind Wonder Wars, announced it is closing the game and the company itself. In an announcement posted on X, the team said it failed to meet the engagement and funding metrics needed to keep the game operational. The studio had planned to launch a utility token tied to the game but has now cancelled that initiative, stating there is no longer a valid use case for it.
Realms of Alurya, which had recently migrated to the Ronin network after an exclusivity deal with the Treasure blockchain platform, is also going offline. The development team reported that Treasure ended all agreements without prior notice including development grants and publishing support, which the team had relied on for its 2025 roadmap.
According to their Discord messages, efforts to raise new funding through community events were unsuccessful, leaving the project without a clear path forward.

What’s next for Realms of Alurya and Wonder Wars?
The studio behind Wonder Wars has formally ended operations, with no further updates expected. The planned in-game economy, including a token launch, has also been cancelled.
As for Realms of Alurya, its future remains uncertain. Its developers have paused all operations whilst exploring possible next steps. However, no timeline has been given for a potential return, and the game remains offline for the foreseeable future.
Many web3 games launched during the 2021–2022 crypto market boom are now facing reduced user activity, fewer investment opportunities, and increased pressure to justify their business models. In recent months, other blockchain games—including Nyan Heroes (Solana), Ember Sword (Ethereum), and The Mystery Society—have also gone offline due to funding issues.
The downturn has also affected gaming-related cryptocurrencies with only one major gaming token—IMX from Immutable—remaining among the top 100 crypto assets by market capitalisation according to CoinGecko.
