US-based web3 gaming studio Faraway has launched the alpha for their mobile real-time strategy game Rebel Skies.
Progress made in the alpha won’t carry into the global release but Faraway has promised to reward early adopters with special in-game rewards at global launch, as well the chance to earn crypto and NFTs during the alpha.
The alpha is currently available on both iOS and Android devices and it is coming to PC at a later date. Details on how to download the game can be found via Faraway’s account on X.
What is Rebel Skies game?
Rebel Skies is a mobile action RTS game with deck-building elements. It comes as the latest addition to Faraway’s roster of web3 games and its global launch is set October this year.
Rebel skies is similar to the popular mobile game Clash Royale, except it has web3 elements that allow players to interact with blockchain-based assets including those from the HV-MTL IP.
Earlier this year, Faraway acquired NFT-based pet-battling strategy game HV-MTL from Yuga Labs.
To honour this deal, Faraway is giving back to HV-MTL NFT holders throughout its web3 titles, starting with Rebel Skies. During the first weekend of Rebel Skies’ Alpha Competition prizes won by the top ranking HV-MTL NFT holders will be doubled.
What to expect from the Rebel Skies Alpha?
Rebel Skies game is launching with three Alpha Competitions on the weekends of 20th to 22nd September, 27 to 29th September and 4th to 6th October. Each competition runs for 72 hours and requires a ticket to enter.
The competitions pit players against each other in a 1v1 PvP challenge mode where the winner keeps their opponent’s tickets.
Each player is given 15 tickets at the start of the weekend and they are ranked at the end of the weekend according to the amount of wins and tickets they have managed to accrue. The highest ranking players will earn crypto and NFT prizes.
An interoperable sticker system is also going live with the alpha. Essentially this will allow selected content creators to earn money by selling their unique stickers in the Faraway shop to their fans who can use them in-game as emotes.
These stickers can be used across several Faraway games including Rebel Skies, Dookey Dash and Villains. Owning a sticker will also grant players extra tickets to compete in the Alpha Competitions.
