Exclusive First Look: Epic Additions to Gods Unchained’s Mortal Judgement Set
The Web3 TCG’s final card set of Season 1 arrives on September 28. Thanks to Gods Unchained, here’s an exclusive look at three cards within the set!
On September 15, Gods Unchained – the competitive Web3 trading card game – announced the final card set of Season 1: Champions Rise, titled Mortal Judgement: Light’s Verdict.
Featuring 12 powerful, brand-new cards, these provide the epic conclusion to the stories introduced in Mortal Judgement, and provide the playerbase with new, meta-changing cards to add to their decks.
Over the past week, GameStop, Rarible and others have revealed a number of these new cards – but in an exclusive for NFT Insider, thanks to Gods Unchained, let’s reveal not one, not two, but THREE cards in the set!
1. Blade of Whiteplain
Blade of Whiteplain is a neutral 5-cost 4/4 Anubian, with the effect: “Once per turn, after a weaker enemy creature is destroyed, draw a card”, plus the Roar effect: “Destroy an enemy creature with 3 strength or less.”
This appears to be an excellent card. With immediate removal, card draw and a 4/4 creature for 5 mana (in an ideal scenario), it’s well-suited to Control decks – and if it can be protected, the draw effect can give Mortals a huge card advantage against decks that rely heavily on smaller creatures.
It’s also an Anubian, slotting well into the Anubian Death decks that have seen plenty of meta play in recent weeks. Blade of Whiteplain has a lot of potential on the surface – I’m looking forward to seeing how fellow Mortals utilise it!
2. Martyr of Whiteplain
Martyr of Whiteplain is a neutral 3-cost 2/2 Olympian with Frontline, with the effect: “While this creature is in your void, after a friendly creature dies, pull it to your hand, and summon this creature with soulless.”
Outside of a few specific cards (thinking of you, Jason and Kadmos), Olympians haven’t seen much meta play as of late – yet this card could still be a handy addition to decks that look to establish early board control.
Played at the right time, there’s some interesting combinations available with the one-time hand-over-void effect, which will trigger any Afterlife effects. Mortals – it’s time for your creativity to shine!
3. Thaeriel, The Fallen
Thaerial, The Fallen is a neutral 7-cost 6/9 with the effect: “Roar: Delve three Thaeric Cultists”.
Whilst a 7-cost 6/9 is nothing to shout about, the ability to Delve (choose one of three) a Thaeric card three times over makes this card incredibly versatile – and introduces us to some new, neutral cards!
Need board control? Go for an Oppressor or Convertor. Need buffs? Go for a Tormentor or a Conspirator. Looking to disrupt your opponent’s plans? Go for a Prohibitor or Moderator. A successful Delve may rely on a bit of luck ? but Delve cards are always fun to play!
How Can I Acquire These Cards?
Each of these cards is part of the 12-card Mortal Judgement: Light’s Verdict set, available from September 28. If you want to learn the story behind the cards, read Ian Taylor and Alex M. Saccardo’s brilliant lore entry, Light’s Verdict.
