SKALE Network Launches Ethereum Token Bridge Tool
ERC-20, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens can now be bridged freely between chains in this eco-friendly, scalable blockchain network!
SKALE, an Ethereum-focused multi-chain network, has launched SKALE Metaport – a user interface tool for their token bridge API – to support developers in building custom solutions for sending ERC-20, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens between chains on SKALE.
Launched in 2020, SKALE is a fully-decentralised, open-source, community-owned platform that allows for developers to create an unlimited number of fast, pooled-security, proof-of-stake EVM blockchains on-demand, eliminating gas fees for users.
Metaport will allow developers to build a customised, user-friendly intra-SKALE token bridge, which will be of particular significance for blockchain games, drastically improving user experience.
Web3 games such as CryptoBlades, which runs on SKALE, will be able to use Metaport to allow their players to transfer their tokens between the CryptoBlades chain and the Europa Hub – SKALE’s main liquidity centre – by creating a quick, simple and guided process.
Jack O’Holleran, CEO of SKALE, recently discussed the issues that Metaport aims to solve:
“Charging users fees every time they transact or trigger a smart contract creates a disincentive to play. In order to appeal to the mass market, there’s a ton of work that needs to be done around usability.”
For the most part, integration between games and their blockchain features is still far from seamless – and that fractious experience is a turn-off for many would-be Web3 gaming fans.
Tools such as SKALE’s Metaport are crucial in reducing this friction, and will play an important role in helping to convince traditional gamers of the tangible benefits of blockchain-powered games.
Metaport itself won’t eliminate the problem entirely, but with each one of these tools that’s built, we’re a step closer towards a seamlessly-integrated, NFT-powered future for the games industry.
