Solana-based meme coin BONK has expanded into the gaming sector with the launch of Bonk Arena, a browser and mobile-compatible arcade shooter developed by Bravo Ready.
The game, which became publicly available on Monday, requires players to pay a small amount of BONK tokens to participate in matches and offers rewards based on in-game performance.
Unlike typical free-to-play games, Bonk Arena uses a pay-to-spawn format where players must spend tokens to enter and can earn more by eliminating other players. All actions—spawns, kills, and rewards—are recorded on-chain via the Solana network.
What is Bonk Arena?
Bonk Arena is a top-down shooter that can be accessed through web browsers or the Phantom wallet mobile app.
It is also planned for compatibility with the PSG1 handheld device. The game is structured around a pay-to-play model: players must spend 10,000 BONK (about $0.17 at launch) to spawn into a match. For every player eliminated, they earn BONK tokens.
The developer, Bravo Ready, previously used a similar model in its earlier PC game, BR1: Infinite, where players paid between $0.10 and $1 per life.
A transaction fee—ranging from 0% to 10%—is deducted from each match. Only users with a Phantom wallet can access Bonk Arena, making it exclusive to that Solana-based platform.
What’s next for Bonk Arena?
The launch of Bonk Arena is part of a broader effort to extend BONK’s use beyond trading and speculation. Originally distributed in late 2022 as airdrops to Solana developers and community members, BONK was intended to stimulate activity on the network following the collapse of crypto exchange FTX.
Since its launch, the BONK token has been integrated into trading tools, decentralised exchanges, and other community initiatives. Whilst the token has occasionally been used in games as a cosmetic item or optional asset, Bonk Arena represents its first use as a fully embedded currency within a licensed game.
Bravo Ready has stated that additional features are in development, including unlockable characters, in-game progression rewards, and digital items. However, no release dates for these updates have been confirmed.
