Web3 MMORPG Soulbound has unveiled a brand-new cinematic trailer, ahead of its upcoming official launch on Discord.
This upcoming launch, which will make Soulbound the first MMO playable through Discord, is the culmination of the team’s efforts this year, which saw the game win the Grand Prize at the Discord App Pitch 2024.
The official launch is set to bring new features, quests and rewards into the game, with further information expected to be revealed later this week.
What is Soulbound?
Originally titled Worldwide Webb, Soulbound is a web3 MMORPG that blends rogue-lite elements with MMO features to create a retro-inspired online experience.
Built to push the boundaries of what a browser-based game can achieve, Soulbound won the Adventure Together Games category in the Discord App Pitch 2024, before going on to win the overall – highlighting its potential to transform the browser-based gaming medium.
This success coincided with a push to make Soulbound the first MMO available via Discord Activities – the platform’s fast-growing social gaming service.
What do we know about the official Soulbound Discord launch?
As of writing, a date has yet to be revealed for Soulbound’s official launch on Discord, although founder Thomas Webb has remarked that “this week, we’ll reveal everything!”
Webb has also stated that the launch will introduce new rewards, quests and features into the Soulbound experience, and that “your progress will transfer between Discord and your web experience”, meaning players will be able to resume with their characters as normal once the game has held its official Discord launch.
The trailers shows several characters enjoying live on the homestead, before engaging in combat with mechanical enemies and coming face-to-face with a mysterious hooded villain. The protagonist, wearing a VR headset, peels back from their PC – before the villain appears to make their way through the monitor and into the real world.
