Optigames, the web3 development studio behind sports-based MOBA title Sparkball, has struck a partnership with web3 games publisher MON Protocol – the publishers behind web3 monster collecting title Pixelmon.
This partnership aims to help increase the reach, growth and community of Sparkball, and incorporate the $MON token into the title, bringing it into MON Protocol’s suite of blockchain games.
To mark this partnership, Optigames livestreamed a Sparkball showmatch between MON community members and Sparkball developers on Twitch, with all viewers earning a Season Zero Silver Badge.

What is Sparkball?
Developed by Optigames – a team brimming with ex-League of Legends, Warcraft and Overwatch talent – Sparkball is a MOBA-style sports brawler game, described as “League of Legends meets Fifa and Rocket League.”
Players select heroes with a variety of abilities to form teams for fast-paced 4v4 match-ups, with the aim to score goals into the opponents net. Both teamwork and individual skill are key, and a hearty mix of strategy and brawling talent will secure victory.
Sparkball is set for a full release in 2025, with plans to be available on both Steam and Xbox.
What does the Mon Protocol deal mean for Sparkball?
By partnering with MON Protocol, Optigames hope to accelerate the title’s community outreach, helping them work towards a successful beta launch, penned in for August 2024.
So far, the promotion of Sparkball has heavily-relied on an avid base of player ambassadors, who have received Early Access to the title and have given gameplay feedback. With MON Protocol on board, the team is hoping to pursue other marketing channels in the MON community, and across the wider web3 industry.
MON Protocol will also play a hand in the full release of Sparkball, currently planned for Q2 2025.
