Square Enix-Backed Web3 Strategy Game Blocklords Heads to Polygon
Over five years in the making, ex-EA, Ubisoft and Disney veterans have chosen Polygon for their upcoming MMO grand strategy game!

MetaKing Studios, a web3 development house featuring ex-EA, Ubisoft and Disney figures, have announced that they’ll be bringing their debut title, MMO grand strategy title Blocklords, to Polygon – in partnership with Polygon Labs.
Blocklords has been in development since 2018, and has raised over $15mil in funding to-date, with Early Access expected to open in the first half of 2023.
What is Blocklords?
Blocklords is an upcoming medieval MMO grand strategy game – think multiplayer Total War – with a blockchain-based economy, where the game world and narrative are directly shaped by the players.
With 265,000 players already pre-registered, players take on the role of a Hero – from farmers to kings – and build their fortunes; from farming resources and striking alliances to eliminating your neighbours. The game features a hereditary dynasty system, which allows players to pass down their heroes’ traits and attributes to their descendants.

Blocklords utilises NFTs to power the players’ in-game heroes, with Polygon Labs expected to assist with both these NFTs, and further blockchain integration in the game.
