Handheld blockchain gaming console SuiPlay0x1 is now available for pre-order, priced at $599 USD (ex. P&P), with the first 1,000 buyers to receive an NFT reward.
Developed by Playtron and Mysten Labs, the teams behind the Sui blockchain, the device is planned to run both standard PC and blockchain games, and is priced to compete with the popular Steam Deck.
Though this is one of the first blockchain gaming consoles, it is not the absolute first. Back in July 2022, the Polium One was announced to widespread backlash from both mainstream and web3 communities – and since then, we’ve seen other blockchain-focused devices, such as the Solana Saga phones.
What is the SuiPlay0x1?
SuiPlay0x1 is a handheld gaming console that aims to run both regular PC games and blockchain-based titles. The device aims to rival Valve’s Steam Deck in both pricing and specs, and enters an increasingly competitive handheld gaming market.
“The SuiPlay0x1 will showcase that games seamlessly incorporating blockchain technology look and feel no different than traditional ‘Web2’ games,” said Adeniyi Abiodun, Chief Product Officer and Co-founder of Mysten Labs.
“It’ll show gamers all over the world that player ownership, thanks to blockchain tech, can provide a deeper and more engaging gaming experience without disrupting their fun.”
Pre-orders for the SuiPlay0x1 are now live, priced at $599 USD, and can be purchased using Sui, Ethereum or Solana. The first 1,000 customers will be rewarded with a unique NFT that will grant buyers secret perks and rewards, which have yet to be revealed.
Shipping will commence in 2025, though an official launch date has yet to be revealed.
