Popular metaverse title The Sandbox has announced its Rise of the Memecoins event will arrive later this month. Set to be “a memetastic extravaganza across the metaverse,” the event will celebrate the creativity, humor, and community spirit that define memecoin culture.
Running from July to September, the Rise of the Memecoins event offers fans interactive events, creative contests, immersive gaming experiences, exclusive avatars and other rewards.
The event is set to celebrate some of crypto’s most popular memecoins, including Pepe Coin, Dogecoin, Shib Token, Bonk Inu and Degen Token.
What is Rise of the Memecoins?
Taking place in The Sandbox, the Rise of the Memecoins will be a multi-stage event that will encourage cross-chain use of $SAND. Each of the PEPE, DOGE, SHIB, BONK and DEGEN memecoins will have their own collection of up to 10,000 in-game avatars, which will be airdropped to players wallets on August 5.
To be eligible to receive one of these avatars, players must have at least 5 $SAND in their wallet, a Sandbox account and be a holder of at least one of the respective memecoins. Avatar holders will be able to take part in an array of exclusive experiences within the event.
The greater the USD value of $SAND and memecoins in your wallets, the rarer the skin you will receive in the airdrop. The top 2.5% will receive a Diamond skin, the top 17.5% will get a Gold skin, and the remaining 80% will be airdropped a Normal skin.
The Rise of the Memecoins event will also see two major contests take place:
- The VoxEdit Contest challenges creators to design fun, unique memecoin-inspired clothing in The Sandbox. From Pepe hats to DOGE-themed accessories, this is all about being creative.
- The Game Jam contest invites participants to create meme-inspired gaming experiences. Five winners will earn exclusive rewards, including a share of a memecoin prize pool.
What is The Sandbox?
Created by Animoca Brands, The Sandbox is a blockchain-based metaverse title which first launched in 2018.
Players can own & customize plots of land, creating games and experiences which they can monetize with NFTs and $SAND – The Sandbox’s native token. Since the game entered Alpha in November 2021, players have been able to accrue $SAND by completing various in-game objectives and quests.
Alongside game experiences, The Sandbox also includes virtual art galleries, concert grounds and a variety of diverse social experiences. Many big-name brands have built virtual experiences in The Sandbox in recent years, including FaZe Clan, Gucci and Adidas.
