Champions Tactics, the first web3 game developed by Ubisoft, has held its official launch, and is now available to play for the public.
This follows a technical beta held last week, allowing players to try out the game’s turn-based player-versus-player gameplay. The full release marks the introduction of the title’s full play-to-earn mechanics.
Champions Tactics is a deep, strategic PVP title, with a high skill ceiling and ample mastery of the mechanics to explore. By winning battles, players can earn Gold to upgrade and craft new Champions – both in-game and on-chain.

When was Champions Tactics released?
Ubisoft released Champions Tactics on October 23, 2024, available on PC via the Ubisoft Connect Launcher.
The game is a competitive PvP turn-based RPG, and is built on the Oasys Layer-2 network – utilising its native $OAS token for transactions.
Champions Tactics utilizes two NFT collections: Warlords and Champions. Warlords NFTs offer early access to future in-game events and NFTs mints, and boost earnings in-game. Champions NFTs are the core units of the game, each featuring unique stats, traits and abilities.
The game includes a crafting system where players can forge new Champions by combining two existing NFTs. Crafting involves gene traits, adding an extra layer of strategy to team-building. Players must plan their resources and strategies carefully for long-term success.

Can I play Champions Tactics for free?
In short, yes. Whilst Champions are available to purchase for $OAS tokens, players also receive Ethereal Champions – non-blockchain units – through playing the game and completing quests.
The game utilises a forging system. This allows players to create new Champions by combining Gold and two existing Champions. Players will need to manage their Champion roster carefully to craft, maintain and upgrade effective teams for both ranked and casual gameplay.
Champions Tactics is free-to-play, and is available now via their website.
