Today, Undead Blocks, a multiplayer zombie survival first-person shooter (FPS) developed by Wagyu Games Studio – headed by former Goldman Sachs analyst Grant Haseley – launched their kill-to-earn mechanics on ImmutableX, allowing players to earn fungible tokens and NFT items through gameplay.
Available on PC, Mac and internet browsers – and with a mobile launch on the way – this marks Undead Blocks transition from Beta to a full launch, becoming the first major Web3 game to launch on ImmutableX in 2023.
Undead Blocks is a free-to-play multiplayer zombie survival shooter where players face wave upon wave of zombie NPCs. Players can participate in tournaments to earn ZBUX, a digital currency that can be used to acquire rare NFT weapons and character skins.
The game invites players to collect and upgrade their NFT weapons, which can be customised to increase damage, ammo capacity, accuracy and more.
Grant Haseley, Executive Director at Wagyu Games, said:
“Immutable’s laser focus on web3 gaming, community building, innovation, fairness, and inclusivity has made it the perfect choice for us. Combined with our cloud gaming service, allowing interactive gameplay to be processed on remote servers and live-streamed to any mobile device, we’re about to make another massive step towards our joint mission to onboard the next billion users to Web3.”
Andrew Sorokovsky, VP of Global Business Development at Immutable, said:
“Undead Blocks is exactly the right combination of innovative tech and approachable, inclusive gameplay poised to give a massive push to the mass adoption of Web3 gaming. Immutable is excited to provide Wagyu Games Studio with the full suite of our cutting-edge scaling solutions and toolsets to help make the game the blockbuster title it aspires to be.”
Whilst in Beta, Undead Blocks attracted a loyal community of around 2,500 active daily players, with more than 100,000 players over the past three months. The team also hosted a $150,000 prize pool community tournament in Nashville, attracting more than 7,500 participants, with similar events planned to take place in St. Louis, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas in the future.
With the full launch of Undead Blocks now live, Wagyu Games Studio is planning to bring more quests and challenges, and a plethora of other improvements and new features over the rest of 2023.
