Web3 infrastructure providers Up Network have unveiled their Up Mobile device – a smartphone that combines artificial intelligence with blockchain technology to allow for “web3 on the move.”
Built using Facebook‘s Move programming language, Up Mobile allows users to utilise their favourite dApps on the go, with support for the most popular wallet providers and blockchain services.
The device has been built with a security-first mindset, using AI features and zero-knowledge technology to both improve security and prove identity without revealing biometric data to outside sources.
What is Up Network’s vision?
At the helm of Up Network is Co-Founder Roy Liu, who led TRON’s integration into Samsung’s mobile devices in 2019.
Liu has identified a clear demand for a mobile device that allows for web3 apps, which he claims are mostly “banned or handicapped due to the unfriendly terms on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.”
“We need a smartphone that offers a web3 first user experience and an ecosystem that supports innovation and distribution,” he continued.
Up Mobile’s operating system is enhanced by utilising large language models stored on-device, granting users assistance with their daily tasks whilst boosting privacy beyond what is offered with current cloud-based AI practices.
Movement Labs, experts in the Move programming language, are supporting Up Mobile by providing them with robust blockchain technology for Up Network. Liu envisages a future where this partnership can make web3 connectivity global, as he predicts 2024 will be the pivotal year for a consumer-focused web3 revolution.
How can I purchase an Up Mobile device?
Up Network has received over 10,000 requests for Up Mobile devices since its stealth launch earlier this year, and demand continues to grow.
The Up Mobile device has yet to officially launch, with the Up Mobile page of the Up Network website yet to be live. The retail price and tech specs of the device are yet to be revealed – though the company expects that, with current demand and their anticipated price, that they will close the year with over 100,000 units sold.
Rushi Manche, Co-founder of Movement Labs, claims that the Up Mobile device “rivals, if not exceeds, the quality of well-known mainstream brands.”
