Web3 TCG Skyweaver’s Hexbound Invasion Expansion A Big Success
New cards, new abilities and new challenges – the Polygon-powered trading card game has launched its latest expansion, Hexbound Invasion!
The future of Sky hangs in the balance. Will you join the fight?
On January 16th, Hexbound Invasion – the latest expansion for the popular Web3 trading card Skyweaver – went live. 50 new cards, the introduction of the Slay ability and the all-new Skypass were unleashed on players; and the reception has been terrific!
Hexbound Invasion sees the progression of Skyweaver’s lore, as the Hex-Plague spreads chaos across the land. Players must rally to defend against this new threat – or choose to harness the power for themselves.
The expansion includes new units and spells for each of the 10 Prisms, giving players a whole new range of strategic opportunities.
The brand-new Slay ability is activated when a player’s card destroys an enemy unit, with effects such as drawing a card, playing the next spell twice or adding barriers to allied units.
Hexbound Invasion also brought with it the introduction of the Skypass, a battle pass system that allows players to unlock rewards as they play, such as base cards, the limited-edition tradable Hexbound card back and more. Skypass will run on a Season basis, with progress being reset, and new rewards being revealed, each season.
Philippe Castonguay, Director of Product for Skyweaver, said:
“We’re thrilled with the successful release of Hexbound Invasion. The response from our players has been super positive, and they’ve shared some critical feedback that we’re working hard to improve upon.
We’re very excited about the release of The Skypass as well. Hexbound is an ambitious expansion and The Skypass elevates our progression system – together making the Skyweaver experience fresh for both new and veteran players.
We’ve put a lot of hard work into these upgrades, and it’s great to see them being enjoyed by so many. We know our players are always looking for new challenges and experiences, so we’re already hard at work on exciting new content and features. We can’t wait to share more details in the coming months.”
The second expansion for Skyweaver has been well-received, with players expressing their excitement across Twitter, Discord and Twitch.
Skyweaver has continued to amass a thriving community of dedicated players, boasting over 250,000 accounts as of December 2022, and with this latest expansion, I expect that number to grow.
It’ll be interesting to see the competitive meta develop over the next few weeks, plus how the Skyweaver team chooses to make best-use of the all-new Skypass. We can’t wait to see what’s next in the pipelines for the popular Web3 TCG this year!
