Web3 TCG What Is This Sorcery has revealed a Kickstarter campaign, looking to raise $20,000 to further the development of their hybrid physical, digital and on-chain trading card game.
Reward tiers start at a $30 USD donation, with lower tier rewards including the likes of physical starter packs, starter decks and game mats, and higher tier incentives including such perks as the ability to create your own character, beta access, and premium membership to card grading service CGC.
As of writing, What Is This Sorcery has rocketed past its $20,000 USD donation goal with over 27 days remaining. The donation total currently sits at over $37,000 USD from 98 backers – and continues to climb.

What is What Is This Sorcery?
What Is This Sorcery is a hybrid physical, digital and on-chain trading card game, built on Ethereum Layer-2 networks SKALE and Abstract, and available on PC via the Epic Games Store.
Players collect and construct a deck of 40 cards to compete against other players in heads-up match-ups. Taking inspiration from the likes of Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering and others, players deploy a variety of cards against each other, using their strategic nous to lower their opponents Hero to 0 HP to win the game.
The game is free to play on PC via the Epic Games Store. Web3 elements – which includes on-chain cards – are completely optional, but give players a way to collect, trade and earn from digital collectibles that they truly own. Their Genesis Stone NFTs, which minted last week on Abstract, provide in-game items and boosts, with an airdrop campaign set to begin in mid-February 2025.

What is available in the What Is This Sorcery Kickstarter?
What Is This Sorcery claims to be the first Web3-enabled game to directly partner with Kickstarter – with co-founder and CEO Nick Grossi explaining that the platform is “supporting” the campaign with advice and marketing support.
Starting with a $30 USD donation, players will receive 5 card packs and a starter deck. Higher donations include such perks as game mats, deck boxes, posters and more – with the highest tier, the $4,999 USD God Tier, including the ability to create your own character, an invite to the beta, 60 booster boxes and much more.
The campaign also has a number of stretch goals – with the lowest tier, $20,000 USD, having now been reached, meaning all backers will receive a limited-edition promo pack. Further stretch goals are found at $40,000 USD, $60,000 USD and $80,000 USD, which includes additional promo cards, higher rare drop rates, and signed founders cards.
Alongside these perks, each physical card includes an NFC chip, allowing players to scan them with their smartphone to build a digital collection. These cards can then be minted as NFTs, meaning that holders of physical cards can enshrine their digital cards with the same ownership rights.
