What is Avalanche?

Avalanche is a Layer-1 blockchain developed by Ava Labs, which held its mainnet launch in September 2020.

In contrast to other popular blockchain, Avalanche is structured as a trio of core chains – X-Chain, C-Chain, and P-Chain. Each of these three chains handles a distinct function of Avalanche:

Avalanche is powered by $AVAX, its native ecosystem token. $AVAX is used in transaction fees, staking rewards and governance mechanisms.

In recent times, Avalanche has become one of the leading blockchains for Web3 gaming, being the home of titles such as Off The Grid, DeFi Kingdoms, Spellborne and many more.

How can I get the Avalanche Battle Pass NFT?

The Avalanche Battle Pass NFT can now be minted for free by visiting the NFT marketplace Magic Eden. Once acquired, the NFT must be registered on the Playfull website for holders to earn rewards.

Avalanche becomes the second blockchain to launch its own dedicated gaming-focused battle pass, following the debut of the Solana Battle Pass in April 2025.

Parker Heath, Gaming Lead at Ava Labs, has described the Avalanche Battle Pass as “a single progression layer where players earn rewards no matter which game they drop into.”

Speaking on titles within the Battle Pass, such as Off The Grid and MapleStory Universe, Heath noted that these games “demonstrate Avalanche’s scalability and readiness to support complex, high-volume games.”
