Web3 TCG Shardbound has revealed that it will enter Open Beta on October 9, available via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Developed by Bazooka Tango, and built on the Immutable zkEVM, the game sees players compete in strategic 1-on-1 battles, combining a hex-based battlefield and card game elements.
Whilst many of the planned Web3 features are yet to be integrated, the public will now be able to experience the game’s mechanics, features and playstyle, with players able to forge their first decks and get a taste for the competitive experience.
What can I expect in the Shardbound Open Beta?
Shardbound has come a long way since it’s original Kickstarter success in 2017 – and now, with a 100,000-strong community excited to experience the game, this Open Beta will be the first chance for many to experience the title – and it will be available via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
“We want to make sure every gamer that plays Shardbound has the same experiences and opportunities no matter what platform or storefront they find us,” said Stephan Sherman, Co-founder of Bazooka Tango.
When discussing the Web3, blockchain and NFT elements of the game – which are yet to be fully added – Sherman remarked that, “I can’t reveal all the details just yet, but let’s just say it’s going to be a game-changer.”
How do I join the Shardbound Open Beta?
From October 9, the Shardbound Open Beta will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
There is no fixed end date for the Open Beta, with the likelihood that Bazooka Tango will take their time to add features and make tweaks before deciding when the game is ready for a full release.
Throughout this Open Beta, Shardbound have stated that their focus will be on improving and refining the mechanics, drawing on player feedback to adjust the game’s tactical depth, skill ceiling, and balance. Players are encouraged to experiment with a variety of strategies to hone both their knowledge, and that of the developers.
Whilst NFTs are not yet integrated into this stage of the Open Beta, they are rumoured to be added in future as part of Shardbound’s adoption of the Immutable Passport.
