Web3 mech shooter MetalCore is set to launch its open beta tomorrow, September 12th, on the Epic Games Store.
Following six months of closed beta tests where access was limited to 350,000 Metal Core community members, MetalCore will finally be available to the public.
The open beta launches with a range new game modes and MetalCore’s inaugural MetalPunks Rhapsody season. This will run from September 12th to October 10th, offering players a chance to win a share of a 80,000 $MCG prize pool as well as other exclusive rewards.
What is MetalCore?
Developed by Studio369, MetalCore is a free-to-play, open-world mech shooter, powered by web3 technology on the Immutable blockchain.
The web3 mech shooter is similar to the popular AAA games Titanfall and Destiny, but it is infused with blockchain technology to allow players to own the Mechs and Vehicles that they play with in-game as NFTs.
MetalCore launched their $MCG token on June 28, 2024. $MCG currently sits at a market cap of $1.8M USD, and a full-diluted market cap (FDV) of $12.2M USD.
What to expect from the open beta?
In a major update launching alongside the open beta, MetalCore is now running on Unreal Engine 5 which will allow for enhanced graphics, improved performance and overall, a much smoother gaming experience.
Spanning four weeks, season one will allow players to earn limited edition seasonal rewards and give them the opportunity to win a share of the 80,000 $MCG prize pool by climbing ranks and putting time into the game.
This season focuses on the Metal Punks storyline but next season will look at the other factions, namely the Gear Breakers and the Holy Corporation, to develop and draw players’ attention to the lore of the game.
Alongside the new season, there are a couple of new in-game features that have been added like 10v10 PvP Barony Wars, PvP Bounties, Competitive Tournaments and the introduction of PvE raids where up to 10 players from a faction can team up to battle monstrous aliens and gather loot.
Also, Vehicles and Mechs have been altered to include rarity and strength variables and introductory missions have been refined to improve first-time user experience.
