A public demo of The Bornless, a first-person shooter developed by Cathedral Studios, is now available during Steam Next Fest.
The game, which incorporates both combat and supernatural elements, is set in a fictional 1960s environment and features PvP and PvE gameplay.
The demo includes a full version of the game’s core match structure and updated visuals, along with progression systems carried over from earlier tests.

What is The Bornless?
The Bornless is a first-person multiplayer game set on a fictional island named Farmouth during the 1960s where players assume the role of Seekers, grouped in pairs, and participate in matches that include up to eight teams. Each match revolves around a three-stage structure: gathering resources, initiating a ritual, and attempting to escape with a key item.
The game combines traditional shooting mechanics with supernatural elements. Players use both firearms and special abilities referred to in-game as “Black Magick.” These include offensive and defensive tools that interact with the environment and other players.
Non-player enemies, including hostile cultists and summoned demons, add another layer of challenge. Each summoned demon is associated with specific traits and behaviours, influencing how players approach combat and positioning.

What can we expect from the game demo?
The demo available during Steam Next Fest includes the full ritual match format where players begin by collecting items and a resource called Incense, used to activate ritual locations. Once enough progress is made, a demon is summoned. Defeating the demon grants a Sigil, a central item that provides temporary advantages but also exposes its holder’s location to all other players.
With the Sigil, players may temporarily transform into a demon form. The final objective is to retain control of the Sigil and escape the island, a process complicated by the attention drawn from other teams.
The current version of the demo is based on the build used in the Fractured Souls playtest held earlier in June which introduced visual updates using ray tracing and Nanite rendering, new characters, and a trading system.
