The open beta for the blockchain-based third-person action game Katana Inu is set to launch on June 30.
Developed by ChainVision, the game has been in development for over three years and will now enter a public testing phase open to all PC users with no registration, payment, or token ownership required to participate.
The beta release includes standard gameplay modes familiar to battle royale titles, alongside optional integration with web3 components such as NFT-based items and a built-in marketplace. Players will be able to connect digital wallets, although doing so is not necessary to access the game.

What is Katana Inu?
Katana Inu is a multiplayer action game that combines third-person combat with a battle royale format. Matches focus on eliminating opponents through melee weapons, ranged attacks, and character-specific abilities.
The game is being developed by ChainVision, a team working to incorporate blockchain technology into interactive environments.
In addition to standard gameplay, the title includes support for NFT-based in-game items. These can be minted, upgraded, and traded using connected wallets, with ownership tracked via blockchain. However, core gameplay remains accessible without the use of any crypto assets or wallets.

What can we expect from the Open Beta?
The open beta version will include five playable characters, one map, and time-limited game modes that change on a weekly schedule.
Players can choose between guest login or connecting a supported digital wallet through services such as MetaMask or WalletConnect. Wallet users gain access to features such as minting NFT items and using the in-game marketplace which will reflect player progression but do not change the game’s core mechanics.
The game’s native token, $KATA, is used for specific in-game transactions such as minting and upgrading items. It is available on Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Base. However, it is not required to join the beta or play the game.

What’s next for the game?
The development team has not provided a fixed end date for the open beta. Instead, the beta is intended to continue as a live environment, with updates to address bugs, game balance, and marketplace features.
Progress made during this phase is expected to carry over, although resets may occur if significant changes are implemented. The developers have indicated that community input will be used to shape future content, features, and gameplay adjustments.
Whilst no detailed post-beta roadmap has been published, the open beta marks the first large-scale public release of Katana Inu and will serve as a testing ground for both its traditional gameplay systems and its optional blockchain integration.
