Deadfellaz has released a new update on the development of Death Touch, an upcoming trading card game currently in alpha testing.
The project, first announced as part of Deadfellaz’s broader expansion beyond NFTs, aims to deliver a fast-paced, mobile-first competitive experience. A playable alpha version is already live on Steam, though many of the game’s final creative assets are still in production.
Developers say that the focus is now shifting toward refining visuals, recording voiceovers, and finalising gameplay systems with an open beta targeted for release in approximately six months.

What is Death Touch?
Death Touch is a mobile-first, vertically oriented TCG centered around 1v1 player battles called Strike Team.
In the game, players control decks of 16 unique fighters and compete across a battlefield divided into four lanes. Turns are taken simultaneously to eliminate downtime, and matches are designed to last less than five minutes.
Each card in Death Touch is designed with a single combined statistic representing both attack strength and health. Cards are further defined by single-word traits, replacing the traditional text-heavy descriptions seen in many other card games.
The game currently supports a playable alpha version that features complete core PvP mechanics.

What to expect from the game?
The early alpha version includes animated card states that change depending on a card’s location and actions in battle. Cards display different visuals and audio effects whether they are in hand, deployed, or actively engaged in combat. Some cards also feature additional animations and sound effects linked to specific traits.
The game’s developers report that more than 80 traits have been completed, along with over 70 unique character designs. Three playable factions have been introduced, laying the foundation for the game’s broader world-building efforts.
Other gameplay features currently in testing include trap triggers, a full-hand system each turn, card replacement mechanics, and an evolving deck dynamic where cards can return to the deck after play.

What’s next for Death Touch?
Following the alpha release, development will now focus on replacing placeholder assets with final animations, user interface elements, and voice acting. A PvE game mode is also under development and is expected to launch during the beta phase.
Deadfellaz anticipates moving Death Touch into open beta testing within six months.
Post-launch plans include regular seasonal updates every 60 days, with the addition of new cards and the introduction of monetisation features such as card packs and season passes.
