Pixelverse has launched a closed beta for its new browser-based game, introducing $TON microtransactions beyond its original Telegram-focused platform for the first time.
This initiative is part of Pixelverse’s broader strategy to move beyond its earlier focus on Telegram mini-games, aiming to deliver a more immersive and interactive experience for users.
The closed beta offers early access to the game, allowing participants to explore its features and provide feedback before the anticipated public launch in late 2024.
Inside Pixelverse Closed Beta
Set in the futuristic Neopolis City, the game offers a cyberpunk-themed environment where players can explore, undertake quests, and collect items. Player actions directly influence the in-game economy, showcasing the deeper integration of web3 elements that Pixelverse is known for.
This transition to a browser-based game with built-in microtransactions represents a significant shift from Pixelverse’s previous success with its Telegram mini-game, PixelTap, which utilized the TON blockchain.
The company has built a strong community of about 10 million monthly active users on Telegram, largely driven by its popular NFT collections on the TON blockchain, which offered in-game advantages and exclusive content.
What else can we expect from Pixelverse?
“We are leveraging our massive user base on Telegram to expand organically beyond the platform,” said Kirill Volgin, CEO of Pixelverse.
“Many Telegram mini-game users have discovered crypto through these mini-apps in recent months, and now we’re ready to offer them a richer, more complex gaming experience outside the mobile ecosystem. Our next step is to deepen the web3 integration, moving beyond hyper-casual games to deliver a more immersive experience.”
The closed beta is currently available to early supporters, giving them a glimpse of what the game has to offer, whilst the public launch is slated for the last quarter of 2024.
