Roguelike RPG Castile begins its beta test today, offering four new features and the chance to play and earn some of the 10 million $CAST prize pool.
The beta is live for one month, September 10th to October 10th, and is free to download on mobile Android devices. To earn some of the $CAST governance tokens, players must battle their way up the leaderboards and participate in the Lucky Draw event.
The beta also offers a first look at four new economy-related and competitive features: the Tarot System, Trading System, League Boss Racing and League Tournament.
What is Castile?
Castile is a mobile deck building Roguelike RPG set in a fantasy Cthulhu universe that is reminiscent of the Dark Souls games.
Players must select a party of 5 unique heroes and go on daring adventures across a dark 3D fantasy world. The combat is skill-based and challenging so players must master their decks and learn to time their attacks to perfection.
The game has been in development by web3 studio Nytro Lab for the past 3 years. So far they have raised $25 million to aid Castile’s development and they also completed an alpha playtest earlier this year.

What’s new in the beta test?
The Tarot System, one of the four new features, allows players to equip Tarot cards to gain useful attributes and benefits in battle. These cards are earned by battling in the Soulwell of Evil.
The Trading System feature allows players to buy and sell equipment and other items (including Tarot cards) using Tarot Coins, the primary in-game currency.
The other new features are both competitive ones. League Boss Racing pits two different leagues against each other in a contest to take down the League Boss first, while League Tournament pits leagues of the same rank against each other in a contest to earn points by completing tasks.
The beta test also brings the Beta Lucky Draw event that gives players a chance to win 4 million $CAST. The Draw is entered with Keys that can be earned by holding Tarot NFTs, spending 2000 Tarot Coins and by ranking in the top 10 of the Weekly Quest Points.
The remaining 6 million $CAST is up for grabs by climbing the various in-game leaderboards. A high League Ranking from League Boss Racing and League Tournament will allow players to win a share of the tokens, while ranking highly in the Campaign, Gates of Hell and Arena leaderboards will also qualify players to earn $CAST.
